Endurance training recovery: balancing hard days and rest

Endurance athletes are often good at adding work and less comfortable removing it. That can create a cycle where every session is completed, but fewer sessions are completed well.

Keep easy days easy

Easy training should leave room for adaptation. If every ride, run or paddle drifts toward moderate intensity, the week becomes tiring without producing the quality of a truly hard session.

Watch trends, not one bad day

Fatigue is normal after a big block. What matters is whether energy, sleep, motivation and performance begin recovering within a sensible window.

Fuel the next session

Post-training nutrition is not only about the session you just finished. It is about whether tomorrow starts with enough energy to train properly again.
